Practical life development association is a community-based organisation established as a local NGO in 2021. The association has been registered and licensed by the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Agency for Civil Society Organisation (ACSO) as an Ethiopian Residents Charity in accordance with the Charities and Societies Proclamation No. 1113/2019 with the license number 5334 on January 12, 2021. The objective of PLDA is to contribute in community development efforts through integrated, PLDA centralised and strategic sustainable program interventions. PLDA is governed by a general assembly and a governing executive board with nine members as its supreme governing organ. It has a secretariat headed by an Executive Director who is assigned by the board and responsible for the day-to-day operation of the organisation with a management team of departments/section heads. Together with strategic partners PLDA has built excellence in the provision of quality services for disadvantaged community members in the country. It has developed and makes use of appropriate & relevant policy, procedure and guidelines to guide its management and operations. Realising the global challenges of continued access to funding opportunities and towards ensuring institutional sustainability PLDA has embarked on considering alternative local fund raising mechanisms with the establishment of an income generating office.
